OFB Recruitment Eligibility 2020
Before filling up the OFB application form and applying for the exam, candidates should be aware of the OFB eligibility criteria. They should apply for the exam only if they meet all the criteria prescribed by the board.
OFB Age Limit: Candidates should be between 15 to 24 years as on February 9, 2020. There is relaxation in the upper age limit for candidates belonging to Reserved Categories:

OFB Essential Educational Qualification: The OFB Trade Apprentice educational qualification for ITI and Non-ITI Categories are as under:
For Non-ITI Category |
Should have passed Madhyamik (class 10th or equivalent) with minimum 50% aggregate marks in aggregate and with 40% marks in Mathematics and Science each. |
For ITI Category |
Should have passed relevant trade test from any institute recognized by NCVT or SCVT or any other authority specified through Gazette notification of Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship/ Ministry of Labour and Employment with duration as per the Apprentice Act 1961 + passed Madhyamik (Class 10th or equivalent) with minimum 50% aggregate marks both in Class 10th and ITI. |
Prerequisites To Fill Up OFB Application Form
Before applying for the exam, candidates must be ready with the following:
- Scanned copy of the candidate’s recent colour photograph taken not later than three months from the date of application. The scanned image should have a dimension of 3.5 cm x 3.5 cm, be of JPG/JPEG/PNG/BMP format, 100 DPI, and between 20 kb-70 kb.
- Clear, scanned copy of the candidate’s signature on a white paper with black/blue ink pen. The image should have a dimension of 3.5 cm x 3.5 cm, be of JPG/JPEG/PNG/BMP format, 100 DPI, and between 20kb – 30kb.
- Scanned copy of the candidate’s Left Thumb Impression (LTI) on a white paper with blue ink. The image should have a dimension of 3.5 cm x 3.5 cm, be of JPG/JPEG/PNG/BMP/GIF format, 100 DPI, and between 20kb-30kb.
- 12 digit Aadhaar Card Number/14 digit Enrolment ID
- SSC (Matriculation / 10th Standard) or its equivalent mark sheet.
- Proof of date of birth
- Consolidated mark sheet for all semesters of the relevant ITI Pass trade/Provisional National Trade Certificate indicating marks
- National Trade Certificate issued by NCVT or Provisional National Trade Certificate issued by NCVT / SCVT for ITI pass candidates
- Caste certificate for SC/ST/OBC candidates
- Physical Disability certificate issued by the competent Medical Board/ Authority
The documents should be in PDF or JPG/JPEG format with size 100 kb to 200 kb.
How To Apply For OFB Trade Apprentice 2020?
The OFB application form will be released in the online mode. Candidates must fill up the application form from the official website by following the steps as under:
1st Step: Visit the OFB official website – ofb.gov.in.
2nd Step: Click on the link to the OFB application portal.
3rd Step: Enter all the necessary details, like name, father’s name, date of birth, marks obtained in the qualifying exam, mobile number, email ID, etc.
4th Step: Upload the required documents in the format specified by the authorities.
5th Step: Make the payment of the OFB application fee.
6th Step: Check all the details carefully and submit the application.
7th Step: Take a printout of the OFB application form and payment confirmation page for future references.
OFB Application Fee
For candidates belonging to General Categories, the OFB Trade Apprentice application fee is Rs.100. This is a non-refundable fee. The fee can be paid via Net Banking/Credit Card/Debit Card/Cash Card/Wallets/IMPS/NEFT/UPI, BHIM.
SC/ST/PWD/Female/Transgender candidates are exempted from paying the OFB application fee.
OFB Trade Apprentice Selection Process
The authorities will create separate OFB merit list for NON-ITI and EX-ITI category.
The Non-ITI merit list will be compiled factory-wise on the basis of the overall percentage of marks secured by the candidates in Class X standard or equivalent exam. After selection, the factories will allot trades on Merit-cum-choice basis.
For Ex-ITI category, the authorities will compile the factory-wise and trade-wise merit list on the basis of simple average of the percentage scores of the candidates in both Matriculation and ITI (minimum 50% in aggregate in each).
The provisionally selected candidates will then be called for Document Verification and Medical Examination. Candidates whose documents are found in order and are medically fit will be considered for further processes.
OFB Trade Apprentice Salary/Stipend
Candidates selected for the training will receive a stipend.
1st Year | 70% of minimum wages of Semi-Skilled workers notified by the respective state or Union Territory |
2nd Year | 80% of minimum wages of Semi-Skilled workers notified by the respective state or Union Territory |
3rd Year | 90% of minimum wages of Semi-Skilled workers notified by the respective state or Union Territory |
It is to be noted that the candidates will not receive any other allowances during the entire period of apprenticeship training.
